JOHOR is a pioneer in performance-based road concession contracts, having signed deals worth an estimated RM601 million, said Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghaz.

He said the contract period between the Works Ministry (KKR) and Selia Selenggara Selatan Sdn Bhd commenced last June and would last until February 2026.

“In addition, the federal government has also set aside RM126.23 million this year for the maintenance of federal roads in the state,” he said through a Facebook post today.

Onn Hafiz said KKR has approved several road projects in the state including the Pasir Gudang Expressway, which was being upgraded from four to six lanes from Bandar Seri Alam Taman Rinting to Pasir Gudang, at a cost of RM155 million.

He said the directional ramp at the Senai Desaru Expressway (SDE)-Bandar Penawar intersection was also under construction at a cost of RM129.2 million.

“The bypass from Matriculation College to Tangkak Industrial Area on Jalan Muar-Tangkak-Segamat is being upgraded at a cost of RM269 million,” he said, adding that construction of median openings, a u-turn and related work was in progress from Parit Sempadan, Batu Pahat until the bridge across the North-South Expressway, at a cost of RM250 million.

He added that the Kota Tinggi bypass bridge was being upgraded at a cost of RM126.4 million and road repairs and upgrading work in front of Sultanah Aminah Hospital would cost RM800,000.
